An Open Door is Closing (book)
An Open Door is Closing is Ditte Ejlerskov’s attempt to write a love story through painting and painting titles. The works are structures in a tap sheets publication, where the titles function as a poem one can read separately or supported by the images under each tap. The chapters of the book are also organized in a tap sheet design, enveloped by a cover resembling a file folder. As you open the folder, you are met with the words “Once, image-makers were reporters”. A plot diagram inside the cover unfolds the rising action of the love story, where the events that lead to the eventual climax, including character development and events that create suspense is marked by elements from the story. Here it is revealed that the climax in this painted storyboard might not be the most exciting point, but that it is a turning point for the plot or goals of the main characters. Likewise, a color-scheme outline of the chapters are to be find in the cover. A poster is part of the standard book.
An Open Door is Closing is a spiral bound book with fabric elastic bands, tap sheets, a foreword as an attached sheet and a poster in an envelope. This publication is fragile, the cover is a 300 g uncoated paper.
